Kindergarten Facilities

Yarra Warra Preschool prides itself on its outstanding facilities that create a magical place for children to explore, imagine and create. It is a place that fosters the joy of learning, a sense of belonging and an incredible play-based space.

INDOOR CLASSROOM

Our beautiful indoor rooms are modern and filled with natural light.  Our spaces include various designated areas for dramatic play, puzzles and manipulative activities.  A story corner, science table and light box all inspire the kid’s imagination. And guess what? There is still plenty of room for our pasting and drawing tables, painting easels and play areas.

These variety of spaces offer a range of experiences for children to explore and are continually changing in response to the children's interests and class focus.  The children's imaginations are limitless - just to name a few examples in recent years;

  • They might evolve the room into an underwater marine haven,

  • Or a jungle filled with dinosaurs and exploding volcanoes

  • And the kids have even set up a neo-natal ward for babies!

It all depends on what the children’s interests are and what is surrounding them in their own communities.

Through free play, specifically planned activities and formal group settings, subject areas such as art, music, movement, science, literacy and numeracy are all incorporated into our learning.

OUTDOOR CLASSROOM

Our outdoor rooms consist of a variety of areas including play equipment, a trickle stream, outdoor classroom, bush kinder,  vegetable gardens, sandpit, and undercover play areas.  The outdoor facilities are equipped with many resources to enhance child-lead play such as outdoor building blocks, balancing equipment, cubby house, outdoor dress-ups and outdoor kitchens.  These amazing kindergarten facilities are supplemented by the children's imaginative and dramatic play with sensory additions such as pebbles, fabric, natural and non-natural resources.

BUSH KINDER BLOCK

Our bush kinder block is located on the bush block adjoining our preschool, on the hill overlooking the Yarra river.  This bush kinder play-space is a fenced terrain with hilly and flat learning areas where children can explore and learn about our natural environment and sustainability, and gain an understanding of our ecosystem along with the local flora and fauna.

Some of the amazing facilities that you will find in this Warrandyte based bush kinder are:

  • Lizzie our resident blue-tongue lizard

  • The climbing tree and lookout, with expansive views across the river and overlooking Pound Bend and the ever present mob of kangaroo’s

  • Sandpit

  • Firepit

  • Pond

  • Binoculars

  • Magnifying glasses

  • And the best bush kinder teachers you can find to inspire your child and teach them things like ‘what is a gastropod?’

This unique and magical space invites spontaneity, risk taking, exploration, and discovery in connection with nature.  The community hall is attached to this area to provide shelter in inclement weather.  Learn more about our bush kinder program.
